I’m a fan of navy beans. I made soup while camping.

    howdy y’all,

one problem with cooking for one person is stuff going bad on me. most “one person, one week” size items cost nearly the same price as the larger “family” sizes. so i have been switching to dried/freeze-dried items so that i can make “just enuf”.

this works well. the black beans are _really good_, but these are fair.

rated a _three_ since it is as expected.

    take care,
    lee

For me, these are great. They cook fast, I can put-together a meal in about fifteen (15) minutes, and the beans are always perfect. I usually make Pasta Fagioli (pasta with beans) with these. I add dehydrated shallots, dehydrated onions, dehydrated chive, a little dehydrated basil, and freshly grated Romano cheese. Voila! I don’t have to soak and rinse these beans. I simply add them with my other ingredients, boil for about ten minutes, and then add the cheese. Some say they are too small, I like them because they are small, cook fast, and have a nutty flavor.

Prepared navy beans seem to be difficult to find. These are so easy to use in their place. I like them in soup. Just toss in a handful or two. They rehydrate quickly and look/taste like freshly cooked beans.

    This a copy/paste & they are delicious!

I have been looking for a bean and recipe for the old Hallmark dried beans my Mom used to make. I searched and found it! Ordered these beans & they are amazing! I have the original recipe from the box. Here it is: 1 pkg (2 C.)
precooked beans 1/4 lb. salt pork or bacon, sliced
3 1/2 C. boling water 1 tsp salt 1/2 tsp dry mustard 4 TB molasses 2 TB brown sugar 1/4 cup catsup 2 TB onion 1/4 tsp garlic powder. Place beans without soaking in baking dish or bean pot. Brown salt pork or bacon thoroughlly. Add boiling water. Combine remaining ingredients and add to water and pork mixture. Pour over beans. Cover and bake in hot over, 450 degrees for 30 minutes. Uncover, stir well, and bake 15 minutes longer.

I make “Meals in Jars”… Vacuum packed meals from dehydrated or freeze dried food that you add boiling water to and they’re ready to eat in 10 – 30 minutes. See: https://www.amazon.com/Meals-Jar-Handbook-Gourmet-Storage/dp/1462113788/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1505536687&sr=8-3&keywords=stephanie+petersen or do a search for chef tess bakeress 52 meals. Gourmet meals made from dried food and vacuum packed in mason jars, mylar bags or Food Saver bags. Use them for backpacking, camping, food storage, vacations… whatever. I got these for Ham and Beans!

If you just need a handful of beans, don’t want to use canned or want to take beans camping or otherwise with you as a great form of protein, these are for you, no soaking, quick cooking. They don’t swell up much, not like from dry. but they do cook FAST and make things a little more hardy when pressed for time.

Wanted to try dehydrated beans. Just threw them into the Crock-Pot with stock and vegetables and had soup in 6 hours. Cuts down on cooking time compared to dry beans
