I bought 4 lbs total. Supposed to be softneck, but several of my bulbs were hardneck.
Overall, quality was pretty good, but about 15-20% was brown, soft and rotten.
Granted, it’s hard to see if your bulbs have rotten cloves when the skin in still on, but, I’d hoped for slightly fresher.
I will say that these were waaay better than the bulbs I bought from a different seller.
Even though I kept the three garlic heads in the bag for ~1month (they were starting to grow), I could salvage maybe 50% of the cloves (others were rotten by my own fault). I planted those in three different spots around the house and they have all grown to about 6″ or so, looking very healthy (four of them were ravaged by a squirrel, we’ll see whether they come back, they look withered).
All in all, great garlic for replanting, very vigorous. We’ll see about the flavour but chances are I’ll buy another round late this year.
I would expect at least some to grow, but not even one came up. I plant in tall raised beds with fresh topsoil and compost. Planted these and just to see what would happen I planted a few of the same from the grocery store. All but one from the grocery store’s came up. However, not a single one of these came up. Both were planted at the same time in the same bed. All got the same water daily just to keep them moist, not soaked. So I really don’t believe these to be something I’ll buy again. Plus they give no guarantees at all.
I love these large healthy bulbs. The sections appear to be nice and plump – and peel quite easily! I planted one section with lovely, strong roots and it sprang up almost immediately! I am happy with this purchase! I sent another packet to my sister too! It has been challenging to get decent garlic locally (it has even been challenging yo get the Chinese stuff, too). I am so happy we have a decent alternative!
I planted about 5 cloves of the largest ones. Every single one sprouted. They all grew into heads and after months of growing I got some of the largest cloves. I ended up with 2 liters of cloves. I live in north FL.
I ordered the soft neck garlic twice. The first time was great, got nice sized bulbs and planted them and most of them sprouted. I ordered them again recently, and this time it was just so so. Some bulbs not as fresh, some already dried up, so maybe I got a bad batch, or just the timing when I ordered was off. So first order was 5 stars, second was 3 stars. I hope if I order again next time, I get the 5 stars. Overall, garlic is easy to plant, and a good crop to grow.
These GARLIC BULB (20 Pack), FRESH CALIFORNIA SOFTNECK packages, are totally excellent and hey, 20 x 10 -13 segments are a massive amount of growth potential and easy to separate. I ordered 2 of these 20 bulb packs and am extremely happy with my purchase with the big volume coming from these huge bulbs. I have separated and planted all but two of the bulbs and there was no rotting or discoloring at all in any segments- this is a good company to do business with! Saving two for eating in various dishes was a great idea- this garlic tastes good, and I am looking forward to future harvesting. Great find!
Don’t waste your money. Took months to arrive. Extremely poor quality.
I only bought 3 bulbs and only planted 2 because I didn’t have enough space. This was my harvest, every one grew a new garlic bulb. They smell so good and were huge.
