We love this salmon. It used to be an affordable fish option for us, but the continued inflation of its price is no longer “affordable”. Never thought I’d see farm raised salmon at 14.99/lb, but here we are. The entire Whole Foods fish offerings have declined as well. There used to be so many options, including new fish to try. Those days seem to be gone. I miss the striped bass the most.

I like this salmon and use it regularly any time I want a salmon dish. I realize it is farmed raised, but I do not like the wild sockeye salmon that Whole Foods sells (it tastes meal-y to me), so this is normally the best option. I had issues with it having a weird chemically smell when I ordered it from a specific Whole Foods location, but I changed the Whole Foods location I ordered it from and have not had an issue with this again. I do wish Whole Foods would sell Verlasso Salmon (my favorite salmon), but until they do I feel like this is a good option. I think it has a good fat/ meat ratio, and pleasant texture. A great way to cook it is put a little cajun seasoning on it (I use Tonys) and pan sear it on a non stick pan. I also bake it in the oven frequently and it cooks lovely in there as well. If you get this delivered just be warned that it seems like it is up to your shopper wether they give you a whole piece of salmon or smaller cuts of salmon. If this is an issue for you, I’m sure you can use the app whenever your shopping period starts and specify your preference.

I got a pound of Salmon as part of a Whole Foods delivery order. The salmon delivered was fresh and in good condition as I expected. This is the latest of several repeat orders with the same quality. In shopping a number of stores I think Whole Foods salmon has been noticeably better quality on average in my experience.

When getting delivered groceries for me the delivery is part of what I’m buying. This salmon was delivered perfectly – not bruised or damaged in any way. All my orders were very fresh cuts from the seafood counter.

This salmon fully met my expectations. Delivery was flawless and the filet cooked up nicely. My expectations were fully met getting 5 stars from me.

Best. Absolutely the best. Ordered multiple times and never once got a sloppy cut or any bones.

    Turn on the oven.
I open it, pat it dry a little with a paper towel, sprinkle the pink side with salt. Remove from package and place on baking pan.
Put in oven and bake at 350 degrees.
I’m less than 20 minutes it’s done. Take ot out when it still looks NOT done. (Look for the white “bubbles” to come up and sit on top of the salmon). It should look a little more undercooked than feels right….it’s perfect.

Add a little lemon squeeze or cracked pepper if you want the extra experience, but not necessary.

Eat the whole thing before your family gets home. Or save some for your kids—guess what—if it’s still hot out of oven like this—they’ll scarf it all down with you!

This salmon has never been “fishy” for me if I eat same or next day from pickup, and I am extremely sensitive to that. I buy a pound nearly every week. I either pan saute it quickly in butter or saute and then make a simple dill & cream sauce right in the pan.
The only fish at WF that tastes & smells “fishy” to me is the “blue” catfish, even when a fresh pan has just been put out. I really, really miss the local farm-raised catfish. If you feel the same way, get farmed catfish from Sizzlefish – it’s fresh and tasty and grown in NC, but much more expensive when shipped frozen in individual portions.

This came so fresh and exactly as described. We made salmon bites with them and they were amazing.
