I bought this to try as a replacement for the half n half that we use in our morning coffee. It did not disappoint! I mixes easily by the spoonful and gives a smooth texture and flavor to the coffee. I was able to skip the sweetner in my cup since the flavor it added was so nice. It is a light fluffy powder which came in an air tight sealed can with a plastic seal over the top. We live in a humid place and so to reduce exposure I went ahead and put some in a smaller container to use in my cup of joe daily. Then I replaced the plastic cover and used saran wrap aroud the edges of the lid to keep as much moisture out as possible. Good product all around.

I love this product!! I have it on subscibe and save, but the can I just received this past week is INCREDIBLY dented. This really defeats the purpose of having for long-term storage. I am going to have to open and either use, or try to repackage for short-term. I will wait on the next order to see if this was a one-time issue, but if I receive another dented can, I will have to stop my subscribe and save subscription and look for another product.

Update: I received this month’s subscribe and save and the can was dented as bad, or worse, than the one I posted pictures of on my initial review. I love the product, but I have canceled my subscription since grossly damaged cans seem to be all I would be receiving.

I am a very picky eater. It started at the age of 1 1/2 to 2 years, I never grew out of it. That being said, the Red Cow Full Cream Milk Powder is an excellent replacement for fresh dairy. It’s shelf stable, you only refrigerate leftovers. Has all the characteristics required for baking or cooking with milk as an ingredient. The only thing I haven’t mastered are puddings in the J box. For some reason, it’s not as simple as adjusting the liquid measure, which is water, after making sure I incorporate the two powders (J boxed powder and Red Cow Full Cream Milk Powder together. It turns out runny, or turns into gummy paste. Blech. The hard for me to master J box puddings are the cook and serve. Instant puddings don’t have the same issues. I use a hand mixer, or my food processor. Either works. Although the food processor is faster and powers through lumpy liquids, making them smooooooth. (lol)

Overall, in spite of the J box mishap, this product works a treat. If you are trying to save money, like I am, by reducing the amount of food I end up throwing away, I have an empty milk jug that sits by and waits to be filled half full of store bought, liquid milk. It doesn’t matter whether it’s full fat, 2%, fat free, or any milk substitute.

To start, using the recipe recommended on the can, 1:1 ratio of milk powder and lukewarm water. It will be lumpy, but the more vigorous the stirring, and a pass through a sieve to get the teeny tiny little lumps, you’ll have a cheaper milk product in your fridge. The milk powder also works well straight out of the can as a dairy creamer for coffee or tea. The powder likes warm to the touch water. It will be lumpy in cool, cold water, and performs the same in water that is too hot. Yes, I get lumps in my coffee and tea, but they will dissolve as the temperature drops in your cup.

Cooking with Red Cow Full Cream Milk Powder is easy peasy, add the powder to your dry ingredients and mix well. Too well. You can’t over-mix at this stage. Add water to the liquid(s) used in your recipe, calculated from the amount of powder added to the dry ingredients. I sieve the liquid directly into the dry ingredients. Mash out the most egregious lumps, passing it through a second time with liquid reserved for this purpose. It’s not really necessary, as I haven’t had any lumpy gravy or cream sauces using Red Cow Full Cream Milk Powder, but I do it anyway.

As for taste. It tastes like milk. I have never been a milk drinker, but I do eat cereal. There is a slight flavour I can’t pinpoint, but it’s not bad. Disappears if dividing and adding to your milk percentage of choice. Also, much better tasti
ng when icy cold. My daughter puts her smaller 1/2 gallon container in the freezer, partially icing up the container. She said she can’t tell the difference.

And there you have it. A very satisfied customer, indeed!!

This sooo expensive, but soooo worth it for the amount you get. It’s HUGE! (almost twice as big as a regular standard 10 can!)

I recommend this Especially if you don’t use a lot of milk, or you bake bread, or for standard emergancies. I was using nutrient survival because of the vitamin loads. But this is literally the best powdered milk on the market in my opinion. It last way longer then you’d think it would, just make sure you portion bag and store in an air tight container to keep it fresh longer. They say to use it within 30days of opening, however it’s powdered milk. It actually lasts way way way longer then that, even in the can itself without other protections. I have some milk powder that’s been opened, as long as it isn’t exposed to humidity or moisture it can last a good 6 months to a year. But this relies heavily on your storage and use practices – like not opening the can near boiling/running or stagnant water. .

Keeping moisture levels in the house low, storing out of light. (I do recommend if you live in a high humidity area or if it’s ‘rainy seasony’ you divide up the milk into bags and vaccum seal these in halfcup to 1 cup powder bags depending on your consumption/usage. (1 cup easily makes 16 cups of milk – or 8 loafs of bread at the standard 2tbsp per loaf recipe)

Got it for emergencies like war would recommend everyone stock up on dry goods and things you know you would need in case

The product itself is good. I use this for milk bread recipes. I would suggest though, not buying this product by itself. If you don’t have to order anything except this product at the moment, I would wait until you have more shopping to do so the can will be packed with other items to minimize shipping damage. I received this with a few more items I ordered and the can had 2 small dents in a couple spots. If I ordered this by itself I can imagine it would have looked like the pictures folks put up here. I would suggest whoever packages it, to wrap a bubble sheet square (the big bubbles) around the can and tape it. It doesn’t take but a few seconds. Thanks.

This is the best milk I ever tasted. It is also the most expensive milk I ever bought. I used the recommended ratio of 3:1 water to powder and the yield was just over 5.5 gallons. Using the powder as creamer or using the milk to make hot chocolate takes the experience to another level. If you give someone a glass of this milk they will want to know what it is and where you got it. It is luxurious milk. Is it worth almost $9 a gallon? Probably. Does it taste 3 times better than the milk at the grocery store? Easily.
